Rooney: Desperate for success
Wayne Rooney is desperate to get his hands on the FA Cup this season and complete his collection of winners' medals.
The Manchester United striker has already tasted Premier League, UEFA Champions League, Carling Cup and World Club Cup success during his time at Old Trafford.
The one glaring omission from that collection is English football's most prestigious knockout competition.
Rooney admits that two final defeats, to Arsenal in 2005 and Chelsea in 2007, have left him even more determined to ensure that he collects the final piece of elusive silverware at Wembley in May.
"The FA Cup is the only trophy I haven't won yet and I am absolutely desperate to get my hands on it," the England international told the News of the World.
"I've lost two finals with United and that frustrates me - I want to put right.
"What made those defeats even harder to take was that we could have won both times but Arsenal and Chelsea got lucky on the day.
"A lot of people tend to regard the Premier League and the Champions League as the only trophies that matter, but to me the FA Cup is magical.
"Even when United won the Premier League and Champions League last season, there was a massive disappointment around the club when we lost to Portsmouth in the cup (quarter-finals). We all wanted to win it - and it is the same this season."
While the FA Cup represents the pinnacle of Rooney's aspirations this season, the burly front-man admits everyone at United is desperate to claim as many trophies as possible this term.
"When you become a Manchester United player you take on a responsibility to try to win every trophy that you compete for," he added.
"As far as I'm concerned, we have got the ability and quality to win absolutely everything this season. If we can get some good luck along the way then it is definitely a possibility."
