Bristol City boss Gary Johnson expects Lee Martin to join Ipswich Town after ending his interest in the Manchester United winger.

Martin is out of contract at Old Trafford and is tipped to link up with former United captain Roy Keane at Ipswich.

Town's Championship rivals Bristol City had shown an interest in the 22-year-old, but Johnson says he is no longer looking to sign the youngster.

"The player has been away on holiday, but we did have discussions with his representatives," said Johnson.

"He's very close with Roy Keane and I think he'll end up with him.

"There was interest initially from us, but we pulled out very early."

Martin has made just three senior appearances for United, but has undertaken loan spells at Rangers, Stoke, Plymouth, Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest in recent seasons.
