Sir Alex Ferguson admits Manchester United must 'get their act together' and stop a barren run of six years without a win at Stamford Bridge when they take on Chelsea this Sunday.

The Red Devils take on the Blues knowing three points could see them jump back to the top of the Premier League table.

Despite no win at the Bridge since 2002, Ferguson has said his players are capable of stopping that record and knows another defeat could see his side slip five points adrift of Carol Ancelotti's men.

"We are capable of winning the game, there is no doubt about that," the Scotsman said.

"It is a strange situation because we used to have a terrific record down there up until a few years ago. But we have let it slip and we have to get our act together.

"It is not going to be easy for either team.

Feisty

"It will be tough. At moments it will be intense and feisty but there are so many good players on the pitch you are expecting some moments of terrific play.

"I am sure we will get that."

Despite United's defensive headache of Rio Ferdinand's continued absence through injury and Nemanja Vidic suffering from a calf strain, Ferguson believes his side will be stronger at the back than the team which let in three against CSKA Moscow in midweek.

"We won't be as open as we were on Tuesday," vowed the United chief.

"I know we are capable of getting back to the form we showed last season because we are a team with great ability."

Even with Didier Drogba in fine goalscoring form for the Blues, Ferguson insists Frank Lampard is the driving force United will have to keep quiet during Sunday's crunch match.

Fantastic energy

"Lampard still retains a fantastic energy to come down the pitch," he said.

"Chelsea have an exceptional player in that respect and very good experience in the rest of the team, which can be important."

With the likes of Manchester City, Tottenham and Aston Villa creeping up the league table, Ferguson said a 'truer' league will become apparent after the international break this month.

"The Premier League does not settle until all the internationals are over," he added.

"Once we get over this next bout of internationals we will probably see a truer league."
