Ferguson: Had the chance to manage abroad
Sir Alex Ferguson admits that he has had offers to manage abroad but is adamant that 'you don't leave Manchester United'.
The Red Devils boss celebrated 23-years at Old Trafford on Friday having brought unprecedented success to the club in the process.
The Scot has led the club to 11 Premier League titles, two European cups, five FA Cups, three League Cups, a European Cup Winners' Cup, the Fifa Club World Cup and the Uefa Super Cup during that time.
Such success has undoubtedly attracted attention from overseas but until now Ferguson has remained silent over any interest in his services.
"I've had offers from clubs to go abroad, but I've never been tempted by them," he told the News of the World.
"I am not going on record to say who they are, but you'd be surprised by the names. It flies over your head and you get on with life.
"You don't leave Manchester United."

How would Players understand A F abroad, Would they employ an interpreter. I lived in Uk 100 miles south of Scotish border and I do not understand his words especially mixed wjth Gum. Would he be Manager, Ref, Timekeeper etc. Would they have money to waste example How much has he spent on Goalkeepers?in last 4 years.

What's all this loyalty talk being spouted out by United fans? Most of your players have been disloyal and have been poached from other teams.

The Liverpool fan made a very valid point. All you Cockney Reds just stick to watching "your" team's games on Sky Sports and leave the discussion to real fans. A translator? Ha ha ha! Way to bond with your team! Only a British person would go to a foregin country and expect everyone else to speak their language.

Micheal Powell you chat complete rubbish, there was a time when he was close to losing his job but he proved that keeping faith in him was the best decision the utd board has ever made. Any team around the world would love to have him on their side, language is not much of an issue in today's game as someone already mentioned there are translators available. Sure he'll learn some of the language but do you really think every manager who manages in a country foreign to his own is going to learn a whole new language every time he switches nations? Get real.

Firstly, Michael Powell you're WRONG!!! I think you're bitter because your manager is incapable of winning the league in ANY country. Secondly, SIR Alex, as you should righttly refer to him, is commenting following the public tapping up of Rooney by Barcelona. H'es pre-empting a "shock" bid. but the thing is this... Rooney won't go, he's too loyal to SIR Alex and to United. The fact nobody has commented on this yet is scary - I mean we all possess intelligence, no???

i dont think michael powell is right in what he said, maybe he is just comparing SIR Alex Ferguson the many Neverpool manager who have tried and failed. Sir Alex is pure Class and i think ALL teams should respect what he has done and stop being bitter about it.

Michael Powell Liverpool fan... You try and knock Sir Alex's managerial ability by saying ''Man Uts is really the only club he knows''.. Pricless from a Liverpool fan as Alex Ferguson took Aberdeen to 2 European Trophies and was already a well respected and established manager before going to Man Utd. He knows how to achieve success like no other

I agree with James, if only ronny showed the same kind of loyalty. Anyway I believe there isn't a top flight team in the world that hasn't offered sir Alex a job to be their manager. It would be justified to say he is the most successful manager to ever live so why wouldn't any team want him to manage them.

I actually agree with Michael (and don't just read into my team choice lol). I doubt he would have been successful elsewhere, he's bound to have seen that. Plus he wouldn't have been able to bully European Associations the same as he has here, which you must admit has played a large part in his winning Leagues. The Leagues are totally different - look at Jose, he wants back to England, he just won't be as successful over there.

The football world will be a sadder place when Fergie retires. Most managers these days lack passion and are so boring!! At least we have a guy that sounds like a mafia hitman.

Michael Powell, if you honestly believe that the most sucessful manager in modern football history (world football, not just English) hasn't got the ability to manage abroad then you must have been hit in the head by one of Voronin's wayward shots!!

Fergie would have any players in the world playing at the top of thier game and winning throphys regardless of what country, im just thankful he has stayed loyal and loves the club as much as anyone!

Just to keep the liverpool fan in the loop, Fergie has spoke french since before cantona signed... but i dont know if he speaks spanish or italian, if not, i'm glad.

Dan A (Queens Park Rangers fan) says...
"Seriously, could you see this man speaking Italian? Spanish?" Yes, why not? 99.9% of football people who move abroad pick up the langauge, I hardly think Sir Alex would be one of the incapable ones. The only thing that would render him inable to manage abroad successfuly would be the fact he'd have to give up a lot of control and, in some cases, be fed players and simply have to pick the tactics and team week in week out. Tactics aren't one of Fergie's strong points. "sports entertainment." Football = sport. WWE wrestling = sports entertainment ie "entertainment" with elements of sport.

What and why do people say silly comments. Take a step back and take a long look at yourself before making ANY kind of statement. This man has changed the face of BRITISH & WORLD football. Pay VERY close attention before marking his name with any poor casting doubts of your opinions(which I may remind you counts for nothing). I know its difficult, but if you decide to say anything TRY and make it positive

You'd say that wouldn't u being a pool fan. Anything to discredit Man United...Of course he'd do well. Its not the team its the manager, and if he applied the same work at a different club, he'd still be successful..Acelotti did it...united was a struggling team when he came. ANd you don't need to speak Italian or Spanish to manage a team there...u have translators for that.
