Manchester United winger Nani has moved to play down his recent reported spat with Sir Alex Ferguson by insisting he accepts his manager's decisions with regards team selection.

The Portugal international ran the risk of invoking the wrath of Ferguson this week when he described his taskmaster as "a very complicated man" who "can go from complimenting you to just plain trashing you in a matter of minutes".

Nani, who has scored 12 goals in 85 United appearances, has never really shown his true ability since moving to Old Trafford but had hoped Cristiano Ronaldo's departure in the summer would open the door for more regular football.

However, this has not proved to be the case with the player having confronted Ferguson after being substituted earlier in the month against CSKA Moscow, while he was left out of the travelling party to face Chelsea last weekend.

In an attempt to diffuse the row Nani has now looked to address any lingering animosity.

He said in quotes reported by the Daily Mail: "I often speak with the coach about my performance. I accept Ferguson's decision but I want to have more minutes on the field.

"Things that happen in football should stay in the dressing room.

"After Cristiano Ronaldo left, I wanted a bigger role, but the coach picks the team. Against Chelsea I wanted a chance but it didn't come.

"You need to accept bad moments, I have no problem with the coach."
