Gary Neville has called on Manchester United to quickly move on from defeat by Besiktas as the champions bid to cut Chelsea's lead at the top of the table.

United suffered a first UEFA Champions League home defeat in 24 matches on Wednesday as Rodrigo Tello's first-half goal earned Besiktas a surprise 1-0 win.

The setback means United must pick up a point away to Wolfsburg in their final game to be certain of qualifying for the last 16 as group winners.

Neville was disappointed with the manner of the reverse at Old Trafford, but the Red Devils captain wants his team-mates' attention to be quickly turned to Saturday's trip to lowly Portsmouth.

"We've got a few big games coming up now, so we have to move on," said Neville.

"Losing like we did on Wednesday is never good but we have a game at Portsmouth to look forward to, so we have to pick ourselves up."

Frustrating

The long-serving full-back is hoping to be involved at Fratton Park having not featured in the Premier League for over a month due to a domestic suspension.

After a torrid time with injuries over the past couple of years, the 34-year-old admits it has been disappointing to miss games while he has been fit.

He added: "It was important for me [to play 90 minutes against Besiktas].

"I've been fit throughout the period of my suspension, so it's been frustrating not being able to play. I'd have liked to have come back into a winning team, though."
