The 22-year-old full-back initially joined the Lilywhites in November for a month but he will now stay at Deepdale until 4th January.

The Belgium international has already made four starts for rock-bottom Preston and will now be eligible for a further five games, including the visit of Derby on New Year's Day and the trip to face Crystal Palace two days later.

De Laet joined fellow Championship strugglers Sheffield United on loan earlier in the season, making six appearances for the Blades.

The former Stoke man has so far made six first-team appearances for United, most recently in the 3-0 defeat at Fulham last December.
