Giggs: Offered a role
New Wales boss Gary Speed is hoping former team-mate Ryan Giggs will take up a role in his coaching team.
Former Dragons skipper Speed was appointed his country's new manager after just four months at the helm of Sheffield United in December and is looking to form a backroom team in his image.
Giggs was among the contenders for the job following John Toshack's resignation from the post, but due to his playing commitments with Manchester United, taking the role full-time was seemingly impossible.
However, Speed is trying to coax the veteran and former team-mate into joining his team, and admitted that he had already spoken to him about a possible place in the setup.
"It would be great to get him involved in some respect. I spoke to him last week and we'll have to wait and see," he said.
Giggs is currently taking his coaching badges and retired from international football in 2007, but Speed is also looking to bring in an experienced number two, with under-21 coach Brian Flynn and his right hand-man at the Blades John Carver in the frame.
"I want a good coach to do the day-to-day coaching sessions on the training pitch whereas I do more team shape," he said.
"Then I would like an experienced man behind me who has had experience at maybe Premier League and international football (level) because I'm relatively young."
