Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has played down talk linking the club with a move for Valencia defender Miguel.

The player's agent claimed earlier this week Chelsea were interested in signing the full back.

Miguel is regarded as one of the best defenders in Europe and has attracted the interest of a host of top clubs.

Mourinho is thought to be in the market for a new right-sided full-back with Paulo Ferreira and Geremi not able to establish themselves in that position.

However, Mourinho insists he is not planning a move for Miguel in the January transfer window even though he is a fan of the former Benfica man.

"No, I'm not interested in signing Miguel," Mourinho told A Bola.

"Miguel is a quality player who has shown notable evolution over the past few years but we, Chelsea aren't interested in his signature right now.

"Every time a player's name is mentioned Chelsea gets mentioned, so this sort of rumour isn't new."
