Chelsea are understood to be keen on a summer move for Hamburg captain Rafael van der Vaart.

The Dutchman turned in a superb performance in the 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend, scoring Hamburg's goal and setting up numerous chances for his team-mates.

Former Germany international and current Chelsea scout Rainer Bonhof was in the crowd and he admits one player stood out.

"I can't say which player I came to watch but when you have a look at the match, you could imagine who was the most interesting," Bonhof told the German press.

Chelsea were linked with a move for Van der Vaart last summer, while Juventus have also been credited with an interest.

But the midfielder insists he is staying focused on Hamburg for the rest of the season.

Van der Vaart said: "The interest of other clubs is at the moment secondary. I want to win a title with Hamburg."
