Adriano Galliani insists AC Milan will not rush into a decision after failing to sign Branislav Ivanovic.

The Italian giants had been hoping to persuade Chelsea to part with Ivanovic, who only moved to Stamford Bridge in January.

Though the Serbian defender has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Blues, his agent says the Premier League club consider him to be 'indispensable'.

Milan had been keen to bring in a new defender, but vice-president Galliani has stated the club will not fall back on a second choice after missing out on Ivanovic.

Won't be rushed

"I want to make it very clear that Milan will not be rushed into making any decisions by anybody," Galliani told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"We will either find the defender we need or we will stay as we are.

"Alessandro Nesta and Kakha Kaladze are available and we can count on Paolo Maldini, Daniele Bonera and Giuseppe Favalli, not to forget Massimo Ambrosini.

"There's never any point in making quick decisions, especially because we have players who can cover."
