Drogba: Wanted by Barcelona

Yaya Toure admits it is 'a pity' that Chelsea striker Didier Drogba did not join Barcelona over the summer.

Drogba was strongly linked with a move to Camp Nou before the Ivory Coast international stated he will be staying at Stamford Bridge.

The powerful forward's international team-mate Toure would have relished the opportunity to play alongside Drogba at club level.

Though Toure is disappointed Drogba is staying with Chelsea, he has drawn comfort from Samuel Eto'o's decision to stick with Barcelona.

"Yes, it's a pity. I would have loved Drogba to join me at Barcelona," Toure told L'Equipe.

"I give thanks to God that Eto'o is staying. He is not far away from being the best striker in the world.

"With all these great players, and especially with the mindset that we have, I do not see how we can fail."
