Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has admitted that Jose Mourinho is the reason he moved to Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho brought Drogba to Chelsea in July 2004 for £24million after the forward hit the headlines in France for Marseille.

After a difficult start to life in England, the Ivory Coast international became an integral part of Chelsea's success under the Portuguese manager.

And Drogba has reiterated his admiration for his old boss, telling the Daily Star that Mourinho - who is now at Inter Milan and is rumoured to be set to offer Adriano in a January swap deal for his former star - was the only reason he joined the London club.

"To be honest I did not want to leave Marseille," He admitted.

"But a coach took the time to speak to me and made me understand that to become one of the best strikers in the world I had to sign with Chelsea.

"This man is Jose Mourinho, a man I have a fantastic relationship with. He made me understand that refusing to join Chelsea would have been like a lack of ambition."
