Petr Cech has told skysports.com that Chelsea have the experience to secure a Premier League and UEFA Champions League double.

The Blues narrowly missed out on both fronts in 2007/08 after being pipped to the league title by Manchester United before losing to the Red Devils on penalties in the Champions League final.

Ahead of Friday's draw for this season's last 16, which can be seen live on Sky Sports News, European success is thought to be a priority for owner Roman Abramovich, who has also seen his club lose three times in the tournament's semi-finals in the past.

However, Cech - who has helped the Blues to a strong second place in the Premier League - claims there is no trophy favouritism and the Czech Republic international considers Chelsea capable of emulating United's double-winning success of last term.

Ambition

Chelsea have not won the league since 2006, but Cech feels he and his team-mates can end that wait and secure a first European Cup in Stamford Bridge history.

"It is difficult to say," said Cech at an Adidas Predator photo shoot when asked if the Champions League was a main ambition.

"It has now been two seasons since we have won the Premier League and that is a massive competition that we want to win.

"There is not a big difference between both. If you can go and win both, that would be the best scenario. Once you go on the pitch you want to win every game.

"We know what it takes to win the Premier League. We know what it takes to reach the final of the Champions League. So we have got enough experience and I hope that will be a major advantage."
