Carvalho: Exciting times
Ricardo Carvalho believes the current Chelsea side is stronger than that created by Jose Mourinho.
The Blues claimed back-to-back titles under their former coach, in 2005 and 2006, ending a 50-year wait for a top flight crown.
During their first season under Mourinho, Chelsea conceded just 15 goals in 38 Premier League fixtures and suffered only one defeat.
Carlo Ancelotti's class of 2009/10 have already slipped up twice this term, but are well on course to snatch the title back from the clutches of Manchester United.
They have shipped only eight goals in their first 14 games, helping them to establish a five-point lead at the summit.
Carvalho insists the Blues are capable of maintaining that advantage for the remainder of the campaign, as he feels the club are playing better than ever.
"In this moment we are an improvement even from that first year here under Mourinho," the Portuguese centre-half told Chelsea's official website.
"Of course then we were compact and everyone was fighting, but now I think we have more quality in the squad maybe. Or at least different players, playing in a different system and style."
Carvalho has much to look forward to in 2010, with Chelsea having also progressed to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League and Portugal having qualified for next summer's World Cup in South Africa.
"Things are good for everyone," he added.
"We are playing well and not conceding goals, we are top, and also we have qualified for the World Cup, so everyone in my life is happy."
