Ricardo Carvalho is hoping to help Chelsea past Arsenal on Sunday and put them in the title driving seat.

The Blues lead the way heading into the weekend, holding a two-point advantage over reigning champions Manchester United.

The Gunners are a further four points back, meaning the Blues could all but end their challenge in a crucial encounter at Stamford Bridge.

Portuguese ace Carvalho intends to do just that, with the centre-half of the opinion that the top flight crown is Chelsea's to lose.

"After the draw at Hull (on Tuesday), we have to win on Sunday," he said.

No excuses

"Our challenge is to stay top until the end of the season and not have bad results at home.

"Arsenal have suffered many physical problems in attack but we've also had difficulties. It's not an excuse because both clubs have quality on the bench.

"We must score a goal early, pressure Arsenal and to win the title we must win games like these.

"Now is the moment to show Chelsea deserve to be champions. The title is in our hands."
