Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric has insisted Liverpool will not get their hands on Gary O'Neil this summer.
O'Neil has flourished this term at Fratton Park and his displays have seemingly caught the eye of Reds chief Rafa Benitez.
Benitez is keen to build on this season's efforts and has pulled together a list of summer targets - with O'Neil seemingly prominent in his thinking.
Liverpool are believed to have proposed a swap deal for Pompey's talented midfielder, but Mandaric claims O'Neil is the future of the club and will not be sold.
"Liverpool have shown some interest and I am not surprised because of the way he has shown what he can do," said Mandaric.
"But we have told them there is no chance he is for sale."
Pompey have already agreed to sell Yakubu Aiyegbeni to Middlesbrough, while Patrik Berger has sealed a free transfer to Aston Villa, and the club will not be keen on losing any other major names this summer.
