Meite move still on for Trotters

Reports in France indicate that Marseille star Abdoulaye Meite is still set on a move to Bolton Wanderers, despite late interest from Stuttgart.

The Bundesliga side were attracted by Meite's performances for Ivory Coast in the World Cup finals and threatened to disrupt Sam Allardyce's plans to bring the player to The Reebok Stadium.

However, with negotiations seemingly floundering with the German outfit, The Premiership now seems to be Meite's most likely destination.

Reports suggest that the player's agent has met with Reading and Wigan, but The Trotters are long term suitors and Meite is reputedly favouring a move to work under Allardyce next season.

With Meite seemingly on his way out, and Frederic Dehu on the brink of joining Levante, l'OM are keen to bolster their backline and have reportedly targeted Newcastle United's Jean-Alain Boumsong.

The stopper had a difficult season in The Premiership and despite having a four-year deal on Tyneside, the former Auxerre star could be ready to return to Ligue 1, however Marseille are believed to only be keen on a loan deal which may not find favour with The Magpies.

One Premiership star close to sealing a loan switch to Stade Velodrome is Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse, and after beginning his rehabilitation at St Raphael the former Auxerre man has moved closer to a return to France.
