Rafa Benitez admitted Fernando Torres had given him a welcome selection headache following his match-winning contribution as a substitute against Fulham.

The Spaniard started on the bench despite recovering from injury as Benitez kept faith with the same side that had hammered Besiktas 8-0 in the UEFA Champions League.

Torres was brought on with 20 minutes remaining and his classy finish set Liverpool on their way to a 2-0 victory.

Steven Gerrard clinched the points with a penalty and Benitez was delighted with his side's performance.

Important

He said: "It is good he is back fit, now I have the sort of problems I like with several fit strikers to choose from.

"It was important for Torres to be back and important that he can score goals like that.

"At the end I said well done to them all, not just Torres, his job is to score goals."

Rotation

Benitez insists he was right to abandon his rotation policy following the display against Besiktas, but warned his players to expect more changes in future.

"I felt it was right to give a side who score eight another chance, but you could see some were tired at the end, so I had to make changes," he explained.

"Would I do it again? Only if they score another eight goals."
