Voronin: Broke the deadlock

Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw by Wisla Krakow as they continued their preparations for the new season.

The Reds suffered a blow before kick-off when captain Steven Gerrard was forced to return home for treatment on a groin injury.

Liverpool had been looking to carry on their good form from the 2-1 victory over FC Lucerne in midweek, but they were tested by the Polish champions.

Andrei Voronin put Liverpool ahead in only the sixth minute after being quick to seize on a rebound.

Tomas Jirsak slotted a shot past summer signing Diego Cavalieri to equalise for Wisla Krakow on 12 minutes, but neither side could force a winner.
