Liverpool striker Robbie Keane is refusing to let his lack of goals get him down.

Keane was in fine form as the Reds topped UEFA Champions League Group D but he again drew a blank in front of goal in the 3-1 win at PSV Eindhoven.

The Irishman has not found the net since his double in the 3-0 win over West Brom a month ago and has scored just four times since his big money switch from Tottenham in the summer.

But the striker looked hungry in Holland and, although he had few opportunities himself, he set up the Reds' third against PSV with an exquisite pass to pick out youngster David N'Gog.

And the former Leeds frontman believes it is only a matter of time before the goals flow again.

"As a striker I will always score goals and I never worry about it," he told Sky Sports.

"Of course I'd like to score a lot more goals than I have at the moment but I'm not going to cry about it and get down about it. As long as I keep performing like I did tonight and keep doing my bit for the team then that's the important thing."

Disrupt

The Reds fielded a much-changed line-up in Eindhoven with big guns Steven Gerrard, Xabi Alonso and Pepe Reina left on the bench.

But the changes did little to disrupt the Reds' march to the top of Group D at the expense of Atletico Madrid who could only draw in Marseille.

Keane admits it is important for Liverpool's progress in the knockout stages that they have the second leg of their last 16 tie at Anfield.

"It was important to win the game and to top the group so we have the second leg at home so if things are not going well the crowd will be behind you."

Boss Rafael Benitez was pleased to see his side top the group. He was also delighted with Keane's effort.

"It is important to be sure that we play the second leg at Anfield," he said.

And when asked about the Irishman's all-round effort in Eindhoven, the Spaniard replied: "He was working hard and I am always pleased if the team continue winning and work as hard as they did today.

"Clearly he is a player that can pass the ball well and can assist and also that he can score goals."
