Sammy Lee hailed the patience and quality of Liverpool's performance following the win over Bolton.

The Reds secured a convincing 3-0 victory thanks to a goal from Albert Riera in the first half and a brace from Robbie Keane after the break.

Bolton tried to make Liverpool work hard but Lee believes his players approached the game in the right manner.

"It is never easy but we showed patience and kept passing the ball around," the assistant manager told Sky Sports.

"It is always key to get the first goal but then we have to consolidate and hopefully get a second and third as well.

"There was patience about our play but there was terrific quality as well, and the fans were superb for us."

Lee singled out Keane for special praise, adding: "He is a terrific player and a great asset to the football club."

Chelsea and Manchester United also won on Boxing Day to keep the pressure on Liverpool but Lee is not concentrating on the performances of others.

"We are aware of what they do but without a shadow of doubt it is all about what we do," he explained.

"We have to remain focused. We know it won't be easy but we don't have to look over our shoulders, we just have to make sure we do our job."
