Hertha Berlin have admitted they are interested in re-signing Liverpool striker Andriy Voronin.

The Ukraine international impressed during a loan spell at the Olympiastadion last season as he netted 11 goals.

Voronin has since returned to Anfield, where he signed from Bayer Leverkusen in 2007, and made an appearance in the 2-1 loss to Tottenham at the weekend.

Hertha coach Lucien Favre told Bild: "Yes, I have contact with Andriy, just spoken to him on the telephone.

"The contact was never broken off. He played excellently for us."

It is, however, claimed Liverpool's demands for Voronin, who is thought to be keen to land regular playing time, could jeopardise a potential deal.

Hertha general manager Michael Preetz said: "We would like to have Voronin - if it was financially doable."
