Rafa Benitez was full of praise for Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina following his man-of-the-match display against Everton.

The Spanish shot-stopper made a string of fine saves to keep out David Moyes' side as The Reds secured a much-needed 2-0 win.

Although Joseph Yobo's own goal gave Liverpool the lead it was Reina who consistently denied Everton a way back into the game.

Dirk Kuyt's effort sealed the points, although it was former Villarreal keeper Jose Reina that had Benitez purring at the full-time whistle.

Improving

"When we signed him we knew he was a good keeper and he is improving here," said Benitez of Reina.

"Xavi Valero, our goalkeeping coach, is doing a really good job with him and you can see him improving every day.

"For me he is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and (yesterday) he showed why.

"It was a great save. In this situation he was amazing."
