Chris Samba claims Liverpool's fall from grace this season has been so substantial that Blackburn were disappointed they did not collect all three points on Saturday.

In years gone by this Millennium the Ewood Park outfit would likely have accepted a 0-0 home draw with the perennially labelled title-challenging Reds.

However, this campaign sees Rafa Benitez's side well off the leading pack in the Premier League as the Merseysiders sit 12 points behind table-topping Chelsea.

After Saturday's stalemate Liverpool also trail second-placed Manchester United by 10 points and Samba is annoyed Blackburn did not pile more pressure on Benitez.

The centre-back said: "It's easier defending against Liverpool this season than in previous ones.

"They didn't impress me as much as Chelsea and Manchester United especially. I don't think they are as good as them now.

"In a way it's a good point but we're a bit disappointed not to get all three because we should have won."

i totally agree with Chris Samba after 5 years at Liverpool you would think that Rafa Benitez would have turned the club into a title challenging Team remember the word of Alex Ferguson that liverpool would not be able to sustain a title challenge he seems to know more about liverpool than the directors at Liverpool do -makes you think

Why is there no mention of Gerrards blatand dive at the weekend? Is there a reason he is being "protected"? Within the month, that is now two blatant dives that Gerrad and Ng'og have got away with, one actually fooled the ref and managed to save them a point, and one trying to get all 3 points, but both are just swept under the carpet, meanwhile, in a game where is didnt make any difference to the end result, Eduardo's dive becomes world news, and he is now branded a cheat at every ground he goes to? Rules for one, and rules for another!

What would Samba know about impressive football? He plays in a team run by that moaner "Big Sam", what I can only describe as "Ale house football". They were lucky their pitch was in such awful condition! If the bobble wasn't there N'Gog would've knicked it. It seems that all the small time players are even putting their boot into Liverpool now as well as managers from small clubs.
