Spurs boss Harry Redknapp insists Liverpool are still the team to beat for the final UEFA Champions League place.

It has been a below-par season for The Reds this season with Rafa Benitez's side losing a remarkable seven of their first 20 league games.

Liverpool lost just twice in the Premier League last season as their pursuit of Manchester United in title challenge fell just short come the finishing line.

Benitez's troops are currently four points adrift of fourth-placed Spurs and Redknapp, despite the club's impressive season to date, is still wary of the Merseysiders.

Improvement

Liverpool play host to Spurs on Sunday and Redknapp believes that if Benitez has a fit Fernando Torres and Steve Gerrard at his disposal then they can improve in the second half of the season.

"I still don't think we should write Liverpool off for the fourth Champions League place," Redknapp told The Sun.

"Seven teams will be scrapping it out of the top-four spots - including us - but I'd stake my life on Liverpool being the ones to beat if Torres and Gerrard stay fit.

"Their performances this season have been surprising. But teams have good and bad runs - everyone was writing Arsenal off a few weeks ago but now they are in the mix again."
