Jovanovic: On his way to England
Milan Jovanovic claims to have agreed pre-contract terms with Liverpool ahead of a summer switch.
The 28-year-old is set to become a free agent at the end of the season, as he runs down his contract at Standard Liege.
A swift exit from the Belgian outfit has been touted for some time, with a number of clubs reported to be tracking the striker's availability.
Liverpool have always been in pole position to land the Serbia international, despite mounting interest from Primera Liga giants Valencia.
Jovanovic's agent revealed on Wednesday that a deal had finally been struck with Rafa Benitez's Reds, and the player himself has now confirmed that he will be heading to Anfield providing he passes a medical.
"We have reached an agreement for three years, with the option to extend for another season," he told Belgian newspaper Sporza.
"I have yet to undergo a medical exam, but that shouldn't be a problem.
"I don't have any physical problems and I'm feeling perfectly fit.
"I opted to sign for Liverpool because they're one of the biggest teams around in Europe. They're definitely among the 10 biggest sides.
"I'm absolutely delighted that the deal is completed. From now on, I can focus on Standard Liege again. I want to leave the club in a good way."

Yet another Rafa signing doomed to fail. He won't score many goals in the Premier League and will be a bench warmer. I am happy we have strengthened the squad but it proves we have no money as he is a free transfer. This signing will not send fear in to the souls of our rivals. Well done Rafa and the scouts, you have failed again.

Good move for Liverpool, the club could definetly do with a good solid striker seen as how Torres is so injury prone and i feel that Ngog hasnt proved himself enough to be a consistent starter, hopefully we make the champions leauge and can attract some more quality to the club, injuries are killing us this year.

I think Milan Jovanovic would be an interesting signing for Rafa Benitez. He may be a good partner for Dirk Kuyt, or he could be a flop like Andriy Voronin. If I was him, I would've been heading to Spain for Valencia.

Great signing! This guy has fantastic potential to become a club hero. He has 2 great feet and I think he would compliment Torres perfectly and also have the ability to cover if Torres isnt available. Shrewd bit of business by Rafa, its a non risk signing which could turn out to be pure genius! Cant wait to see him in a Liverpool shirt for the first time.

This is a great coup for the club free transfer and a wicked player to boot ,well done to everyone involved at the club who made this happen ,im hoping we can get more players at no cost as the transfer market is now out of control and a lot of players are over priced . and are a load of rubbish .

Dont know much about this guy, he was linked with a move to AC Milan in the recent past but is this the calibre of player we need to be pushing on for next season or will he end up as another Voronin? He is 28 as well, just like Maxi is he not on the other side of his peak now. Not very inspiring, hope to proved wrong.
