Yossi Benayoun has been ruled out of Liverpool's Europa League clash with Lille.

The Reds flew to France on Wednesday ahead of the first leg of their last-16 clash.

But Israel international Benayoun will not be involved because of an ankle injury.

Benayoun suffered the problem during their defeat at Wigan on Monday and he has failed to recover in time to make the trip across The Channel.

One bonus for Rafa Benitez was that Dan Agger made the trip following a bout of sickness which forced him onto the bench at Wigan.
