Mascherano: Linked with Inter
Javier Mascherano insists he does not have a problem with Liverpool but has confirmed that he wants to leave because he no longer desires the English lifestyle.
The Argentina midfielder told Anfield manager Roy Hodgson and the club's hierarchy earlier in the summer that he wanted to move on in his career.
Former boss Rafa Benitez is thought to want Mascherano at Inter Milan, while it is also believed that the 26-year-old remains keen to team up with friend and compatriot Lionel Messi at Barcelona after being linked with Camp Nou 12 months ago.
Liverpool's on-field failings in 2009/10 and the uncertainty regarding the club's ownership were also thought to be forcing the ex-West Ham player away from Merseyside.
But Mascherano is adamant that he simply wants a change of scene, telling Sky Sports after Argentina's 1-0 win over Republic of Ireland: "The only thing I want to say is I don't have nothing against the Liverpool supporters, the Liverpool people.
"My problem is not to play for Liverpool. I'm very proud to play for Liverpool. It's another thing.
"I said to him (Hodgson) that maybe for my life I prefer to change the country, not to change the club - that is the fact.
"Sometimes you can see all the things that the papers or the press say, but at the end the only thing I can say is thank you to everyone in Liverpool because they supported me all the time, from the beginning until now."

I would hope that he doesn''t have anything against Liverpool Football Club or it''s supporters ... we have made him the player he is today!! I hope that we can sell him quickly, and let the club move forward with a squad of players who want to play for the Club, and are prepared to work hard to get us back to the top of the Premier League where we belong. With any luck, his sale will be the Yank''s final act as they depart through the same exit ...!!!

Hi it is absolutley shocking the way players act these days about contracts and where they play . I am in afghanistan at the moment us soldiers dont have a choice of where we want to be , players sign a contract so they should finish that out just like us when we sign to serve queen and country .

Cheers Javier. Maybe you could have remembered how you felt about the english life style before Liverpool spent £18m on you and salvaged your career when it was nearly dead and burried in the west ham reserve team!

You can''t fault him, who in their right mind would want to live in England? Might be the best football league in the world but the country is hardly the most desirable place to live!! I couldn''t wait to get out of there and it gets worse with every visit!! Hence why all the top players are wanting to move on!

To be fair, it is no shock he wants out of England he has said it in the past on several occasion. His wife isnt happy with the lifestyle or the language and he wants to move one. Let him go if his family isn''t happy he won''t be happy and his head won''t be in the game. £20 - 25 Million should help Roy no end.

Mohamed Anshur (Real Madrid fan) says...
Red''s owners and funs should let Masch to go were he prefer and Liverpool supporters should welcome the arrival of Paulsen. coz I''m sure that he''s the right and perfect player of that position. even no one was known Masch before the Merseyside. so he should thank Liverpool and go ahead.

Stephen Callaghan (Liverpool fan) says...
We picked Mascherano up when he couldn''t even get a game in the West Ham reserves and last time I checked he''s now captaining Argentina...why I have no idea!! A player who spent most of last season kicking everything in sight (except the ball) after trying to manufacture a move to Barca. Let him go and be Benitez''s puppet again or sell him to the highest bidder and let Roy strenghten with the funds.
