Liverpool have allowed winger Nabil El Zahr to join Greek side PAOK on a season-long loan.

El Zahr was signed by former Reds boss Rafa Benitez from Saint Etienne in 2006 but has struggled to force his way into the first-team fold at Anfield.

Benitez only used the Moroccan sparingly during his reign in charge on Merseyside and new manager Roy Hodgson has deemed him surplus to requirements.

The 24-year-old has yet to feature under Hodgson's regime and will make the switch to Greece after making just 32 appearances for his parent club, where he scored one goal.

Hodgson has also allowed midfielder Vincent Weijl to depart, with the 19-year-old joining third tier Spanish outfit SD Eibar.

Weijl was another recruit of the Benitez era following a move from AZ Alkmaar in 2008.

The Dutchman never made an appearance in a Liverpool shirt and spent the latter part of last season out on-loan at second division Dutch side Helmond Sport.
