Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has stated he is no certainty to one day become a manager once he has retired.

The 32-year-old celebrated his career with the Reds so far with a testimonial in his honour against Everton at Anfield over the weekend, and is tipped to go into coaching when he calls time on his career.

The club's vice-captain appears to be obviously suited to management, with his vocal nature and leadership qualities on the pitch likely to be transferable off it.

However, he played down assumptions that he would definitely go into coaching, highlighting current boss Roy Hodgson's near 40-year globetrotting career so far before arriving on Merseyside.

"Everybody thinks that I'm 100 per cent going to be a manager, but I'm not certain," he told LFC Weekly

"You only have to look at Roy Hodgson to see that some of them have to go all over the world here, there and everywhere.

"I have a young family and I'm not sure whether they'd appreciate that. I'm not sure either whether I'd enjoy it because I like being at home in Liverpool close to everyone I know."

Capello praise

He also praised under-fire England boss Fabio Capello, who selected Carragher for the World Cup squad, which ended in bitter disappointment with a 4-1 defeat to Germany in the last 16.

"You just pick up little things - how they react in certain situations," he added.

"There were a lot of things happening at the World Cup and it was interesting to see how he dealt with pressure rather than from a football or tactical side.

"Capello's a brilliant coach. You only have to look at his CV to appreciate that."
