Jens Lehmann admits 'the worst touch of his career' led to his howler against Fulham.

The Arsenal goalkeeper gifted David Healy a debut goal after just a minute of Sunday's encounter at Emirates Stadium.

Lehmann was attempting to play a pass to a team-mate when he mis-kicked, allowing Healy to pounce on the error.

Late goals from Robin van Persie and Alexander Hleb ensured the German's gaffe did not cost Arsenal any points in their first game.

Woeful

But Lehmann has owned up to the mistake and concedes his season can only improve from the opening match.

"I have never taken such a woeful first touch in my entire career," said Lehmann in the Daily Star.

"I first wanted to play the ball out to my left. However, I changed my mind midway through.

"If that is the way the season begins for me, it can only get better."
