Hill-Wood: Delighted
Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood has hailed Arsene Wenger's integrity, labelling him as a man 'true to his word'.
Wenger ended speculation over his future by signing a new three-year deal at Arsenal.
The Frenchman's future has been the subject of conjecture all summer, following the departure of former vice-chairman David Dein in April.
But Hill-Wood explained that during a meeting in June Wenger voiced his will to stay at The Gunners, and the chairman was always confident he would eventually put pen to paper.
"The way we handle these things is that (director) Danny Fiszman and I have conversations with Arsene," said Hill-Wood.
"We had one in the middle of June this year when we asked him whether he would be prepared to stay longer with us.
"At that meeting he said he would, but there were no details given by either.
"I was confident because he said he would like to stay and when Arsene says something like that I am very confident he will be true to his word.
"He always has been and I am sure he always will be."
