Fabregas: Henry respect

Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas has denied saying anything disparaging about Thierry Henry following comments made over the Frenchman's departure.

The Spanish midfielder had expressed his belief that the side are now operating as more of a team without Henry.

But Fabregas has rejected claims that his remarks were delivered in a disrespectful manner, and has voiced his admiration for the Barcelona striker.

"He is my friend and a colleague and it would be very unfair to say anything bad about him," he told Sport.

Big loss

"He has been the best player in the history of Arsenal and he is a big loss.

"I would never say anything bad about him."

Fabregas also explained that he has been closely watching Henry's performances in Spain, and is confident that the forward is close to rediscovering his form.

"I have seen every game this season. He is improving and against Sevilla he made a great pass for the goal and had a fine chance that hit the post," he added.

"He is starting to play like we know he can, with balls through from the back. Very soon we will see him back to his best."

Diarra delight

Meanwhile, transfer deadline day signing Lassana Diarra has spoken of his delight at making his first start for Arsenal.

The French international was impressive in the 2-0 Carling Cup victory over Newcastle on Tuesday, and has explained that he has thoroughly enjoyed his first few weeks at his new club.

"I am not 100 per cent of my potential yet," he told AFP.

"Everything was fine on the collective and individual aspects. I am happy with my first performance as a start.

"I have finished now with Chelsea and I am totally focused on Arsenal. I am happy at Arsenal, where I have a lot of fun. I hope it will continue."
