Arsenal hero Theo Walcott dedicated his first UEFA Champions League goals to a relative who recently passed away following his side's 7-0 thumping of Slavia Prague.

The exciting teenager marked his first start in the Champions League in style, scoring

twice against the hapless Czechs as the Gunners moved to the brink of the knockout stages.

Walcott scored a goal in each half and the former Southampton youngster revealed his goal celebration for his first strike was in tribute to a late relative.

Tribute

"That was for my brother-in-law's brother who actually passed away. It was a tribute to him," said Walcott.

"Absolutely brilliant football the way we were creating chances. We're always going to score goals no matter what the game."

Walcott admitted his second goal, a clever poke with the outside of his foot, owed much to watching former team-mate Thierry Henry in training.

"People are probably going to say it's a Thierry Henry finish," added Walcott

"I've watched him in training but all the strikers here can do that."

Walcott's only regret was failing to complete his first Arsenal hat-trick.

"I probably should have had a hat-trick but it wasn't to be," concluded Walcott.

Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas, who also helped himself to a brace, was full of praise for Walcott's display and tipped him to win a recall to the England squad

Amazing
"Amazing. The last few games he has made a difference coming on as a sub," Fabregas said of Walcott.

"He showed everyone what a player he is.

"Soon we will see him, I'm sure, in the full England national team again."
