Abou Diaby admits he may consider leaving Arsenal in the summer, should his first-team opportunities not increase.

The France international joined The Gunners for £2million from Auxerre in 2006, and has often shown glimpses of his raw potential.

However, Arsenal's highly competitive midfield has restricted his opportunities.

The 21-year-old has made seven starts so far this season, mainly filling in for the injured Tomas Rosicky, but the Czech's return to fitness has seen Diaby occupy the bench of late.

And while he is prepared to be patient, he admits that he is not ruling out a summer move.

Not in January

"This time I have not been called up by France and I do not play that much for Arsenal," Diaby told football365.fr.

"I need playing time. I thought that I would continue [to play] after I scored (against Derby County) but it did not happen.

"I remain patient and do not give up because I know that my chance will come.

"Arsenal's team is doing well so I have to show patience and it will be unlocked then. I do not regret my choices. Those things happen.

"The situation is like this today but it can change tomorrow. The players that are on the pitch are not automatically better than those who are on the bench, but they do their job very well.

"The season is long so I do not plan a move yet. Maybe later if it continues, but not in January."
