Nicklas Bendtner's father and agent has refused to comment on reports linking his son with a move to Chelsea.

Reports have claimed that Bendtner is at the top of Avram Grant's wanted list, with Nicolas Anelka and Benni McCarthy also targets.

It is believed that Chelsea will offer around £12million for Bendtner - with their sporting director Frank Arnesen said to be a huge fan of his fellow countryman.

Bendtner returned to Arsenal in the summer after a hugely successful loan spell at Birmingham, looking to make the breakthrough into the first-team.

However, the 19-year-old has seen his chances limited and Chelsea no doubt feel they could offer him more opportunities for first-team football.

But Bendtner's father Thomas, who also acts as his agent, would not comment on the Chelsea link.

"I have no comment to make," he told the Daily Mirror.

Chelsea are likely to be left short of striking options come January, with Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou heading for the African Cup of Nations.

With question marks remaining over Andrei Shevchenko's future, that leaves Claudio Pizarro as Grant's only other realistic option.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are also thought to be closing in on Royston Drenthe - the man they failed to sign in the summer.

Real Madrid signed the Dutchman from Feyenoord after a long-winded battle.

However, Real coach Bernd Schuster is reported to have informed Drenthe that he is not in his plans and that he can leave.

Chelsea have maintained their interest and are seemingly set to make a move in January - although they are unlikely to pay the near £10million fee which Real did in August.
