Fabianski: Confident
Lukasz Fabianski is relishing the opportunity to make a name for himself in the Carling Cup semi-final against Tottenham.
The Polish goalkeeper made his Arsenal debut in the third round victory over Newcastle before going on to play against Sheffield United and Blackburn in the next two rounds.
Arsene Wenger is once again likely to stick with his youngsters in the two-legged tie against London rivals Tottenham, and Fabianski realises the importance of the occasion.
"It is a big, big game for me, the fans and for everybody who is a Gunner," Fabianski told Arsenal TV Online.
"For me, it has been good to play in this competition and we now have two more games.
"It will be another chance to show my ability and how I am looking. I am ready for that and cannot wait.
"I know that this is a London derby game and I spoke to Manuel Almunia, who saved a penalty against Spurs (in the Premier League).
"He told me that if you save a penalty against Tottenham then you are the biggest man in the world.
"For the Arsenal fans, it is a big thing to win against Tottenham."
Fabianski is confident Arsenal have the strength in depth to defeat what is likely to be a much more experienced Tottenham side.
"The Blackburn game showed the character of what was probably the youngest Arsenal team ever to play in any competition, and against a side who played a first-team squad," said Fabianski, who joined Arsenal from Legia Warsaw in the summer.
"We showed we have great abilities and technique, but also great character. We are very strong mentally too."
