Gibbs: Canaries switch

Norwich boss Glenn Roeder has completed his fourth transfer deadline day signing by securing Arsenal midfielder Kieran Gibbs on loan.

The versatile 18-year-old, who can play in central midfield or as a left winger, has joined the Championship club on an initial two-month loan deal in the hope of gaining some regular first-team football.

Gibbs has impressed throughout his youth team spell at Emirates Stadium and was rewarded with a first-team debut against Sheffield United in the fourth round of the Carling Cup in October last year.

Lappin exit

In a busy day of transfer activity at Carrow Road, midfielder Simon Lappin has left East Anglia to link up with Motherwell on loan until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old has failed to impress new Canaries boss Roeder and as a result has found himself surplus to requirements with the Championship club.

Lappin joined Norwich for £100,000 exactly a year ago from Scottish side St Mirren, and has now made his way back north of the border to link up with Mark McGhee at Fir Park.
