Arsenal have been dealt a major blow after manager Arsene Wenger revealed that Kolo Toure is set to be sidelined for at least four weeks.

Toure - making his second appearance after representing Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations - limped off after just seven minutes during Wednesday's 0-0 UEFA Champions League draw with Milan.

The 26-year-old centre-back sustained a calf injury and was replaced by Switzerland international Philippe Senderos, who deputised for Toure during his time in Ghana.

The full extent of the problem has yet to be determined, but Wenger feels he is likely to be without Toure for around a month.

Consequence

The French tactician also believes that the injury is related to the defender's involvement at the Africa Cup of Nations - where he picked up a groin problem.

"A calf injury that rules him out for, from what I've seen after the game, for three or four weeks at least," he told the club's official website.

"It was a bad movement, a consequence of the African Nations Cup, too much heat in the calf."
