Arsenal midfielder Gilberto Silva has insisted that captain William Gallas has the support of his team-mates.

The Gunners' recent slump in form - four draws and a loss - has led to suggestions that players might be turning against Gallas' leadership.

Gallas, who was handed the skipper's armband last summer, infamously demonstrated his frustration after Arsenal dropped two valuable points at Birmingham in February.

But Gilberto has backed the France international as he looks ahead to Arsenal's final seven Premier League games on the season.

"Sometimes when things don't work well some people try to create some problems," he said.

"I'm sure we don't have any problems in the dressing room at Arsenal. We still have friendship between all the players and he has the support of everybody."

He added: "A few weeks ago we were five points clear, now we are at a disadvantage. It is not a comfortable situation because there are only seven games left.

"But we still have a chance because we are going to play Manchester United away. The most important thing is to win our games. We have seven games and we cannot afford to slip up anymore."
