Kolo Toure believes that stopping the supply to Fernando Torres is the key to keeping Liverpool out.

The Arsenal defender will come face-to-face with the Spanish hit-man when the two sides meet in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday.

Torres has 28 goals to his name in all competitions this season and is generally regarded as the man to fire Rafa Benitez's men to European glory this season.

However, Ivory Coast international Toure feels that the striker struggles to make an impact in games when he is denied the opportunity to link up with the Reds' inspirational captain Steven Gerrard.

As a result, the Arsenal stalwart admits that he will be doing his utmost to ensure that Torres cuts an isolated figure at the Emirates Stadium this week.

Easier

"For us, it is not Torres who is the most important, it is the team," said Toure.

"If you can stop Steven Gerrard, then you can stop the Liverpool team.

"Torres is a really good player, but if he does not have a really good Steven Gerrard then the game will be much easier for us.

"They understand each other - the way they play, the way they pass the ball, the way they move and that is what we will be looking to stop."

Focused

Toure also maintains that if the Gunners hit top form in midweek, then there is no side in Europe who would be able to live with them.

"We are really focused and believe in our quality," he said.

"We believe we can beat any team if we are on the top of our own game.

"It is not them, it is us - how we are going to cope with them? To be focused. We are really prepared for that.

"The team who wants it more will win."
