Arsenal ace Tomas Rosicky could need surgery on his injured knee.

The Czech midfielder has not played since January because of knee problem.

Now there are major doubts about his participation in Euro 2008 as surgery appears more and more likely,

"Tomas tried some jogging, he felt it was better but it is still not okay," Czech team doctor Petr Krejci stated in Pravo.

"There is a suspicion that the ligament he has been having problems with is lightly torn and his club doctor has not ruled out surgery.

"Also the specialists from France are due to arrive in London to set out the treatment."

Krejci reiterated that Rosicky would not play this season and was unlikely to make Euro 2008.

"Coach Arsene Wenger does not count on Rosicky this season anymore," he continued.

"There is still a chance that he could be fit for Euro 2008, but the odds are not high.

"We are not happy about is as a month ago it seemed like we were dealing with an injury that was painful, very unpleasant but not that serious.

"One of the options for Tomas is that he could return to Prague to continue his recovery as we have specialist for that but it depends on Arsenal."

Nedved

Rosicky's injury has led for calls for Czech coach Karol Bruckner to recall retired Pavel Nedved for Euro 2008.

"We really count on the possibility but it will depend on Nedved," the Czech FA's deputy chairman Vlastimil Kostal confirmed.

Nedved's lawyer Bronislav Serak said he would be talking to him about a possible return.

"I will speak with Pavel at the weekend. Certainly I will ask him about the international team as well. So far he has not said his final yes or no," he added.
