Adebayor: Title dreams have faded
Emmanuel Adebayor is confident that Arsenal will pick up some silverware next season.
The Togolese striker admits that it would take "a miracle" for the Gunners to snatch the Premier League crown this season, but insists that they will be better prepared next term.
Arsene Wenger's side set the pace at the top of the table for much of the 2007/08 campaign, but suffered a serious slump at a crucial stage of proceedings and have slipped back into third.
It remains mathematically possible that they could be crowned champions this season, but barring a collapse from both Manchester United and Chelsea, the Gunners must now focus on regrouping over the summer.
Arsenal kept their slim title hopes alive with a comfortable 6-2 victory over rock-bottom Derby on Monday night, and Adebayor maintains that the North London club are not prepared to give up on league glory just yet.
"I am praying for a miracle now, but miracles do happen," he said.
"We have put pressure on the top two and it is not too late for something amazing to happen.
"Obviously we have to hope that Chelsea and United make mistakes at the weekend, but I can promise we will not make any."
Adebayor added: "We showed with our win (over Derby) we have character because it might have been easy just to look at the table and give up on trying to be champions, but that is not who we are.
"What was also important is that we sent out a message to our rivals that despite all the disappointments we have had in the past couple of months we are sticking together and showing that we are getting better and better.
"This season we may end up with nothing, but it will not look the same this time next year."
