Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was frustrated after seeing his side salvage a late 1-1 draw with Dynamo Kiev.

William Gallas' late strike two minutes from time rescued a point for Arsenal in their opening Group G clash.

Dynamo threatened to cause a shock in the Ukraine when Ismael Bangoura scored from the penalty spot after Bacary Sagna was somewhat harshly adjudged to have brought down Ognjen Vukojevic inside the box.

Wenger admitted he had mixed feelings at the outcome of the game.

"My feelings are a mixture of disappointment and relief," Wenger told Sky Sports 3.

"We were a goal down with three minutes to go and we didn't lose.

"We had chances and didn't take them and then we just didn't create enough in the second half.

"Then, at any moment, you cannot afford to make a mistake and we did.

"At 1-0 down at least we found the resources to fight back to 1-1 because the players gave it everything.

Harsh

Wenger felt the penalty award was harsh and the Frenchman confronted the referee at the final whistle as he was bemused why there so little stoppage time added on at the end of the game.

"The penalty was very, very harsh because we are convinced the guy took Sagna with two hands and went down but the referee called it and what can you do about that," added Wenger.

"I was not angry, I just wanted to understand how they calculate the extra time because it's a mystery to me how, in a game like that, with players going down and substitutes, you still only get three minutes of injury time.

"Even during injury time one player stays down and still it's only three minutes."

Killer instinct
Wenger felt his side lacked a 'killer instinct' in front of goal as they missed several good opening.

"That's the biggest domination we've had here for a long, long time so we are frustrated because we wanted the three points. But maybe it will be a good point," noted Wenger.

"We lacked a bit of a killer instinct when we were on top and maybe that's what we can get out of this game."
