Theo Walcott believes Arsenal can take the title race to the wire after showing they can do the 'dirty things' required of champions.

Arsenal are four points behind current leaders Liverpool after Sunday's 2-0 win at West Ham United, which was secured with two goals in the last 15 minutes.

North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur are the Gunners' next opponents on Wednesday night, live on Sky Sports 2, and Walcott is looking forward to the encounter.

The young winger was impressed by Arsenal's display at Upton Park and feels it demonstrated the team's credentials for a first title win since 2004.

Dug in

"We knew what to expect when we came to Upton Park and we dug in," Walcott told Arsenal TV Online.

"The main thing is the three points - sometimes people say that we do not do all the dirty things, which we did during the first half, and that frustrated them at times.

"Then we just dug in and got our goal in the end, before Ade's second killed the game off.

"It goes to show that we do not just play pretty football and we can put our foot in when it has to be done."

Walcott added: "The title will go down to the wire and there are going to be a few teams in the race.

"No game is easy because every team in the Premier League is difficult now, it is so competitive.

"However, we just have to concentrate on ourselves and winning our own games."
