Denilson is determined to follow in the footsteps of other Brazilians and be successful with Arsenal.

Gilberto and Edu have both left the Gunners in recent years after helping the club to win silverware.

Denilson moved to London from Sao Paulo in 2006 and has established himself as a regular starter in Arsene Wenger's side this season.

Arsenal have struggled for consistency of late but Denilson has set his sights on a bright future for the club and is eager to make a big impact.

"Brazilian guys like Gilberto and Edu helped make history at the club, they were champions, now I am working hard here to help get more trophies," he explained.

"Last season I did get some games, but not many because I was injured.

"This season I have had more opportunities, and am training hard more every day to try to help the team.

"Now I am very happy, have scored a couple of goals and I have been playing well."

Fantastic

Denilson has shown he is versatile but he prefers to play in central midfield and has struck up an effective partnership with Cesc Fabregas.

"Cesc and I play well together, he is a fantastic player," he said.

"I have always believed we could do it, because we have the quality."

Denilson added: "Sometimes I have to be more defensive, I am learning to stay more in position now and not to go up front too much.

"Arsenal have been great for me, I am still young - but now I have more experience.

"I am going to the gym now more and am very concentrated on my work because I need to do everything I can to help the team."
