Cesc Fabregas confesses he has not 'closed the door' on a move away from Arsenal, but the midfielder remains committed at Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners captain has been persistently linked with a summer switch to Real Madrid, while a return to former club Barcelona has also been touted as a possibility.

And Fabregas, who arrived in England in 2003 after three years in the youth set-up at the Camp Nou, admits that he is flattered by interest from the Primera Liga giants.

However, the Spain international, who is on the verge of returning from a knee injury, is adamant that he will stay at Arsenal for as long as he remains in the plans of manager Arsene Wenger.

"I do not close the door to anyone and I never did it," said the 21-year-old when asked about his future.

"Every player has his own way to live his life. Every summer he assesses how the season has been, if he is happy or if he can improve.

"But at the moment two months of competition are remaining. I have just recovered from injury after spending four months out, and the only thing I must be focused on is playing football because it is what I like.

"I cannot control what people say about me, anyway it is incredibly flattering that the two biggest clubs in the history of football are saying such things about me.

"If Wenger asks me to stay, for sure I will remain with Arsenal. If someone wants me, first of all he needs to speak to Arsenal."

Fabregas has declared himself fit to feature for the Arsenal first team when Manchester City arrive in North London next weekend.

Trophy drought

The youngster sustained his serious knee problem in a challenge with Xabi Alonso when playing Liverpool just before Christmas, but he now hopes to face City.

He said: "I am fit and put myself at the disposal of the coaching staff if the gaffer wants me to play next Saturday."

And, with FA Cup and UEFA Champions League campaigns ongoing, Fabregas also hopes to help Arsenal end a four-year trophy drought.

"I am very happy at Arsenal where I have a very big responsibility as club captain, and I am determined to be back playing again and if possible, lift up a trophy at the end of the season," he concluded.
