Kolo Toure has praised Manuel Almunia for keeping Arsenal in their UEFA Champions League semi-final with Manchester United.

United gained a 1-0 advantage in the first leg at Old Trafford, but it could have been a lot worse for Arsenal had it not been for the heroics of Almunia.

The Spaniard made a number of superb saves to keep United at bay and leave the tie delicately balanced for the second leg in North London.

Toure has promised Arsenal will be better next Tuesday and that they could be boosted by the return of Robin van Persie and Gael Clichy.

"We met a brilliant Manchester United team," said Toure. "They were on top of us, it was not easy to come here and win, we tried our best but they were also good and very dangerous.

Big plus

"However, we will be much better in the second leg. We will probably have Clichy and Van Persie back so that will be a big plus for us.

"We know they are a great team, we will have to create and be more adventurous so it is open again.

"We think we can do it. We need to perform to our best level to win the tie.

"Almunia had a good game and kept us in the tie so next Tuesday you will see a better Arsenal."
