Fabregas: Frustrated
Cristiano (Ronaldo) said he's leaving Manchester United because he had nothing else to win. For me right now it is the exact opposite, seeing the impotence.
Cesc Fabregas.
Quotes of the week
Cesc Fabregas has stunned Arsenal after blasting the Gunners' 'impotence' following four seasons without a trophy.
The Spain midfielder has revealed his anger at the lack of silverware in recent times for the North London outfit, throwing his future at Emirates Stadium into doubt.
And Fabregas, part of the Spain side stunned by the USA in the semi-finals of the Confederations Cup in South Africa, admitted Arsenal's shortage of success was affecting team spirit.
"The absence of titles at Arsenal is what angers me the most," he is quoted in The Sun.
"Cristiano (Ronaldo) said he's leaving Manchester United because he had nothing else to win. For me right now it is the exact opposite, seeing the impotence.
"This year we wanted it, we were giving everything - but we couldn't reach the level that everyone expected of Arsenal.
"When you win, you're well. But when you don't, everyone is in a bad mood. For four years now, we've needed a title to regain our belief in ourselves."
Fabregas stopped short of saying he wanted to leave Emirates Stadium but insisted he needs to be 'happy' during his career.
He said: "If I have to say I want to leave I will do it face to face. If one day I'm not happy, I am the first who will tell the manager.
"I admire Arsene Wenger but each of us has his own life and looks after his own interests.
"My seventh season is about to start. It's a lot when you're just 22. When you stop to think, you see that time flies.
"In football, you have to learn fast and take the best decisions for yourself and try to be happy."
The talented playmaker moved to Arsenal as a teenager from Barcelona but has admitted that his family, who are all Camp Nou supporters, would not prevent any possible future move to Real Madrid.
He added: "Of course my family would understand if I signed for Real Madrid because they love me, they want me to be happy and what is best for me.
"They'd support me - whichever club I joined. My family will always be there for me - whatever decision I make.
"They're the ones who are always by my side."

Honestly Cesc has the full right to be a little irritated at the fact that arsenal havnt won anything in 4 years its not really like us and im sure the papers have twisted his words like they always do. it seems to me that they just wait for the moment an arsenal player says somthing and turns it completely upside down.. i hate how some arsenals are saying "let him go" its not that simple you can cash in on him but believe me there isnt many other players out there like fabregas. arsenal fans have to understand that vieira and pires had there time now its cesc fabregas hes one of the best midfielders in the world, hes shown his loyalty plenty of times before why do people specially arsenal fans keep questioning it?

Thank God; I thought it was only the supporters who were angry. Now at least the Captain has fire in his belly and has done what a Captain should (in my view) do "Speak"! We all have seen it for ages and although I love the team and what we are doing but, I too am angry (also eternally hopeful). What we need is for Wengers vision to pay off and or players to take responsibility; Arshavin has done it and maybe his work ethic is what our younger players needed to see; passion is the added indredient that permits a single palyer to score 4 goals in a match (Love Henry but don't recall him doing likewise)? Enjoy the upcoming season either way; "it's football"!

Fabrégas is only one of Arsenals many good players, he is young and very talented. The best option would be to let him go, because if he keeps on thinking like that he'll just get too big for his boots & end up working no sense! I say get rid of him!

Just want to make the point that everyone has left negative comments despite these quotes being taken from this morning's newspapers. Surely we know that Spanish/British press have been playing chinese whispers with Cesc for a while now. And as for those of you saying on here that are saying that Cesc does this every summer I think you need to reconsider your views. Everytime a story like this comes out our young captain denies it in the only official way he can - the official club website! Surely the comments that have been released today should fill any Arsenal supporter with pride for the coming season!

Let me put this to you as though you were a five year-old, let's face it most of you are responding like five year-olds. His team aren't winning anything and he is not happy about it. Are you happy Arsenal fans? Now then, that wasn't too complicated (that means difficult) was it?

Fabregas has already stated his desire to stay on at Arsenal on the official website. This is just another attempt by the media to twist a players words to create unease about his future to make money. "So, for anyone who is unclear or may have misunderstood what my position is, let me make myself absolutely crystal clear. I am wholeheartedly committed to Arsenal and my future lies with this great Club." Maybe its time to stop jumping to conclusions and not get carried away but what every comment comes up on the internet or a newspaper, because more times than not, it's either false or contradicting.

Fabregas is making a big mistake saying things like this in the paper. As now all he is going to get is transfer speculation on himself all summer which drives players mad I imagine. There are ways to express discontent and leaking it to the papers is not the way to do it. He is Wenger's captain therefore his opinion will be respected by Wenger and he should sit down man to man with him and discuss the future of himself and Arsenal. So many Arsenal players have made the mistake of leaving Arsenal as quality players and turning into nothing most recently Flamini and Hleb. However Fabregas is perhaps different as he is one of the best CM's in the world without a doubt and could probably force his way into any team maybe except Barcelona (Xavi,Iniesta,Toure). So maybe it would not ruin his career. Although he would certainly go to Spain which would be bad to see as I want to see world class in our league. I may be a Villa fan but seeing Ronaldo leave this league is a disapointment and the same would be so with Fabregas. Fabregas seems like an honest man and I dont think this was from arrogance, more of frustration and Wenger has to realise the man is still only 22 and wants silverware to match his talent which is understandable. It is Wengers job to realise this obviously for the team but to also keep team morale high so he can keep his best players.

Cesc Fabregas is correct. Arsenal have been branding themselves as potential winners in the future, and Wenger is doing wrong by training youngsters into stars, just so they can find opportunities elsewhere. It's not really about being a 'young side', as long as they are, say...under 30, then age is not something to be concerned about (defenders can be over 30, thats fine) - with arsenal, it is just ALL ABOUT THE AGE of the players. There are no TOP PERFORMERS. I'll tell you what Arsenal need.... Eduardo. They need him to recover and be in form. They need to train Walcott to be a star striker. They need Aderbayor up front too. They need a world class defender, a world class midfielder too. Fabregas being in the attacking midfielding role, they need a makelele type player to play as a central defending midfielder - that special cohesive agent.

I believe that Fabregas is right and as the captain of the team, he should voice out his ideas to team. Fabregas is doing this for the fans. We are all frustrated without winning and this year, we were lucky to have AV in the January transfer window otherwise, we will NOT made the 4th place. Febregas is NOT leaving, but he wants Arsenal to spend and get 2 quality experiences players. I do not understand one thing on Wenger football physiology for ¿selling and replacing players¿. When the team sold Viera, Henry, etc. Who was replaced? No-one!! The youngsters were replaced. I think this is were the team is going on a wrong path. Wenger should have replaced all the players he sold with experience players and still bring the young players through¿ Walcott is an overrated player and English supporters do not want to here this. We need to be honest, if we want Arsenal to win trophies. He should be starting from the bench based on my observation.

Yes its frustrating not to win any trophy in 4 years, and i can understand Cesc's disappointment. But if this article is factual, i would be disappointed that he would make comMents like these in the press. Being the captian (especially for such a young team) a certain level of maturity and restarint have to be shown, and cirticising your team in the media like this does not show effective leadership and certainly this will not be motivating the other players. If this article if true, it really just stops short of saying he's ready to leave, but i'll give him the benefit of a doubt. HE has to remember that he did not particularly play like the class of a player he is consistenly last season, even though he was injured at a point. I hope the contents of the article is not true because arsenal does not need any of this now,and remember NO PLAYER IS BIGGER THAN THE CLUB, AND AS A TRUE FAN I SUPPORT THE CLUB NOT ANY PLAYER IN PARTICULAR.

Will somebody pls tell Csec to 'shut-it-up' and concentrate on LEADING Arsenal -that's what he is being payed for. Be careful Csec . . . Arsené Wenger is a VERY BIG manager! You would be chewed up and spat out before u cud blink an eye! If you want to leave, please GET LOST sooner-rather-than-later. Arsenal was formed before your grandad was born, and, the club will continue with or without you! Some CAPTAIN you are! Get lost!

Hmm.. grass seemingly greener for Hleb. Funny you don't mention Henry, and to the guy that brought up Vieira in a similar vein, how many trophies has he won with Inter in the last few seasons during this barren spell for the gooners. Cesc shouldn't have been so public, being the captain (nice example to set) but ya can see his frustrations. Arshavin was the right way to go but they need more. And no matter how good the kids are / or will be. Trophies mean everything, even a Carling Cup would do now....

Fabregas, who are you kidding mate. You were nothing before Wenger gave you your chance. I'm sick of these players establishing themselves at Arsenal then thinking the grass is greener on the other side. Well just ask Helb how green it is. He is the one disrupting team spirit, and as for winning nothing, it's them on the pitch so you've only got yourselve to blame

Real Madrid won the league titles back to back before Barcelona won this year. People need to do this research and stop thinking the Premiership and Champions League is the be all and end all. As for Fabregas nothing he has said is new we did not perform last season however what we need is to work as a unit. Not to blast the team in a paper and start the rumour mill again. Hleb and Flamini left for better things and did not fare so well. I personally hope we can keep him as he is going to become more influential as time goes on and is an intelligent midfielder however if he was to go to Real Madrid, then they should ask to swap for Wesley Sneijder as he is good with both feet got a good scoring record and can score free kicks. His vision is exceptional and his style of play would suit the Arsenal brand of football. Fabregas probably should have spoke to the manager about this but in this current climate it is hard to see how Arsenal can compete when the other 3 can spend so much on players. We need to keep the faith RVP needs to stay as his role will be vital and we have yet to see the best of Nasri, Walcott, Arshavin and maybe our defensive midfielders may step up to the plate. Also Wenger is shrewd enough to bring a few more players in if Adebayor goes.

I hate how all the Arsenal fans on here are saying 'let him go, we need to cash in on him and we dont want him!' This article is a farce as is the Daily Mail one, I can guarantee that he will come out and clear himself up in a few days and everyone will be all rosey again but why doubt in the first place? Fabregas is and has been a key Arsenal player and as loyal as they come for many years and its only natural for a man with so much desire to be a little frustrated after not winning when he can see his compatriots winning so much! These comments are twisted around just to make news and as for the Daily Mail article well I've never heard such rubbish, they're just creating stories!! Fabregas will ineviteably move on to Barcelona, I think everyone knows that, but not before he has won with Arsenal. I don't think Arsenal fans should for a minute doubt his committment because he is as loyal as they come.

When a player starts to think that he is bigger than the club, theres only one thing the manager can do. Thats let him leave. We have all seen it with Man U when the players start. Remember Stam, Ince, Keane, Kanchelskis, Ronaldo, Beckham. The list is endless and thats at Man U. Wenger does not need Fabregas anymore, he has Arshavin. Watch out for the little man next year. I watched him at Anfield, he had five shots, the first a howler, the next four were goals. He is class. When you watch Fabregas he just doesn't seem interested. Let him go and cash in.

is it me or do some of the fickle arsenal fans forget that this BOY is the best midfilder we have had in years! forget the viera's and hlebs of days gone by (not that either of those two so called starts have managed to perform since leaving the arsenal.) I believe maybe next season regardless to what arsenal win young cesc will seek pastures new, and to be fair who can blame him, he will have gained an amazing amount of experience from his time under the master that is Wenger, but if my memory serves me correct the only player to acheieve anything since leaving us is Henry with Barcelona.... shrewd or not a certain arsene wenger has a nack of selling players just a the right time...... Come on Boys now is the time!!!

At the end of the day, I believe Cesc is right, how can Wenger and the board underestimate the importance of winning trophies, for Four seasons wenger and the board have refused to get the wallet out and better the squad. Wenger is always talking about the debt we have on the stadium is the reason we can't buy well, I'm not buying that because man utd have a BIGGER debt than us but they make sure that on pitch they have the players to compete with the best. Cesc wants to play with the best, I feel that it's not right that Cesc is playing with POOR Midfielders like SONG, when at international duty he plays with Xavi, there's way to much pressure on him. When he arrived he was playing with Vieira,Henry, Bergkamp, players like song couldn't make the grade at Arsenal but now Wenger has almost clouded the fans by insisting players like song, denilson, diaby are top quality when they are clearly NOT! also he clearly dislikes playing in the hole but wenger insists on him playing there. He is a playmaker in the centre of midfield that's the bottom line. Also when u have teams around u always buying to improve the squad and every season we are selling then it sends out the wrong message to players, it's says you not ambitious. I fully understand fabregas frustrations and I wouldn't be surprised if he told the boss he wants to go. Wenger is clearly not taking winning trophies serious enough, he only cares about developing players, making profit and unbeaten runs, now look, all of our best players are unsettled! If Barca went 4 seasons without winning a single trophy then the manager would be sacked. Its not right!

I have to admit, Fabregas is right..the ambition of Arsenal is lacking atm, seems like silverware is not in sight!! At 22 he has a lot to learn including how to conduct himself but also at 22 he is one of the best midfielder in the world and some people want to get rid of him?! Grow up, who's gonna replace him, Nasri, Denilson, or an overseas buy e.g Deco? Yeh right! As captain i have to admit you need to control your frustration and this is probably not the way to convince the board to balls up, but at least he's getting his point out, we need ££. The team is growing together, and it looks promising next season, but fab is vital, without him i can see RVP, Ade, Nasri, saying whats the point in building if we sell our best players? This team reminds me of the way the players at Barca/Man U grew together, history speaks for iteself
